Foundation Orthotics is the only full service Pedorthic clinic in the Greater Napanee area. Foundation Orthotics offers on-site, hand-made custom foot orthotics from a Canadian Certified Pedorthist. Other services include orthopaedic and athletic footwear, knee and ankle bracing, and compression stockings.
Initial assessments are free of charge. Following the initial assessment, the Pedorthist will go over the findings of the evaluation, and discuss treatment options based on the feedback from the patient, and the findings from the assessment. Patients are informed of their treatment options, are under no obligation, and may proceed with whatever treatments or products they wish.
With on-site orthotic fabrication comes the ability to adjust and refurbish orthotics on the spot, rather than waiting weeks for something to come back that may or may not feel right.
Hand-made orthotics are more versatile, and are not constrained to the limitations of the hardware and software of a more automated style of orthotic.
Foundation Orthotics offers footwear from various companies, including New Balance, and Brooks shoes, Mephisto sandals, and BioTime slippers. Many of the footwear stocked at Foundation Orthotics come in various width options. During an appointment, the Pedorthist will recommend footwear based on the findings from the evaluation, making recommendations based on the needs of the individual.
Foundation Orthotics offers a wide range of knee bracing options ranging from over-the-counter options for general knee and patellar stability, to custom-made specifically tailored for off-loading osteoarthritis, or dealing with ligament injuries in the knee. A wide range of bracing options means that the Pedorthist can recommend a brace specific to the needs of the patient.
Foundation Orthotics offers a wide range of compression stockings. Different levels of compression are used to deal with different pathologies. Compression stockings come in different length options ranging from knee high, thigh high, full pantyhose, and even maternity options. Different material composition, and colour options allow for a wide range of customization, accommodating a variety of tastes.
Canadian Certified Pedorthists work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure complete and holistic treatment. Pedorthists often provide treatment based on the prescription from a family physician, however, no prescription is required for the initial assessment, and patients may be given recommendations based on the findings of the Pedorthist.
